AISLE Announces Addition of Maria Fernandez, former FHFA Senior Associate Director to Advisory Board7/13/2026
AISLE will also celebrate the legacy and contributions of Founding Advisory Board Member Ingrid Jaschok at the Institute's upcoming mid-year annual meeting in Dallas, TX on August 18 at the Mansion on Turtle Creek AISLE is pleased to share that former Senior Associate Director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), conservator of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, has joined the AISLE Advisory Board. Members and servicers will have the opportunity to meet Maria face-to-face at the Institute’s mid-year meeting on August 18 in Dallas, TX at the Mansion on Turtle Creek.
“As I leave federal service and rejoin the private sector, there are few organizations that bring together the caliber of thought leaders at the level AISLE does; it’s a pleasure to join the Advisory Board and collaborate with the servicing, legal, and other industry executives as they work together to improve industry-to-agency relations,” said Maria Fernandez on her appointment to the AISLE Advisory Board. “Maria brings a depth of housing knowledge and federal agency experience that is nearly unparalleled, and we’re thrilled to have her join us as a guide, resource, and advisor to AISLE. As we strive to always include former agency leaders in the direction and development of the Institute, Maria was a clear choice to join us as we continue to advocate at the agency level on behalf of the industry,” said Advisory Board Chair Marissa M. Yaker, Esq. Read Maria Fernandez’s full biography Maria Fernandez has more than 25 years of experience in the housing finance arena. Most recently, she was a Senior Associate Director at the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), leading FHFA’s Office of Housing and Regulatory Policy, overseeing credit policy determinations across the single-family mortgage lifecycle—from origination to servicing and asset disposition. During her tenure, Maria has driven key initiatives including the Uniform Mortgage Data Program, Home Affordable Refinance Program, Servicing Alignment Initiative, Selling Representations and Warranties Framework, Mortgage Translations, COVID-related selling and servicing policy flexibilities, and collateral modernization efforts. She also served as FHFA’s executive representative to the Appraisal Subcommittee. Previously, Maria led FHFA’s Office of Credit Risk in a supervisory role, setting examination strategy. Before her public sector career with FHFA and its predecessor agency, the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight, she worked in management consulting at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Maria holds a B.A. in Economics from Catholic University and an M.A. in Economics, with a concentration in Development Banking, from American University. Comments are closed.
